The dinner on June 30th was held to celebrate the granting
of our Livery, as well as the millennium. As the Master reminded us at
dinner, we were half way between the two interpretations of the start
of the new millennium. The dinner was held at The Queen's House, Greenwich.
Over 500 people attended, and we were joined by the Fletchers and Bowyers Companies. The marquee for dinner was erected behind the East Colonnade (right). |

| We were very pleased to see the Clerk, Nigel Pullman nearly restored to full vigour (left) and before dinner we were treated to different medieval music and revels, including a magician, a band (below) and a real hurdy-gurdy (right). Mevieval servants were there to make sure we got off to a good start!(below). | |
| Even the weather on the night was traditional (it rained) and the Master had to hurry to dinner before getting too drenched. However we were all soon tucking in to our delicious medieval fare (above) supplied by our caterers, Chester Boyd. | |
| During dinner, the serving team kept things running very smoothly, and the crowd was entertained by a spot of medieval mumming on stilts. Did the damsel ever get rescued from the tower? | |
| More music during dinner from the cittern player (he was
only doing it for the lute, he joked). Added excitement when each table had to elect someone to carve. With the Master of the Cooks Company present, he got volunteered first and the Master's Lady gave him top marks. |
|
| More dangerous entertainments were also in store: a fire eater (a bad case of playing with your food, here) and knights fighting to the death, or so we were told. The defeated White Knight was well enough to take a bow at the end, anyway. | |
| We were especially pleased that over 70 Masters of Livery Companies and their partners were with us. One of whom made friends with the wenches (they shared a university connection, it later turned out), and our own Master was persuaded to take the floor with the tumblers. | |
| The mantle of Elijah has been passed on from Dennis to his son (r. of left picture), in helping record these events, and the Master was pleased to announce that the fireworks which concluded the evening, had been provided free of charge (they were someone else's from over the road). | |
| Our warmest thanks to everyone who helped stage this very enjoyable evening. | |
