After so many months of lockdown with virtual meetings, members were at last able to meet face to face at a day out in the glorious Surrey Hills. The day commenced with a visit to High Clandon Estate Vineyard where we were warmly welcomed by the most hospitable owners who greeted us with tea/coffee and home made cakes in their lovely garden overlooking a wildflower meadow. After an introduction we went on a tour of the vineyard where we were given an excellent explanation on how to plant, grow and care for the vines. There followed a tasting of their gold award winning wines which have matured in bottles for over 5 years. There was even a tasting of their home produced gin.

Lunch was at a nearby hostelry where we enjoyed a 3 Course meal with wines and coffee in a private room.

After lunch we visited a nearby glass blowing Studio where we were given a most fascinating talk and demonstration of free blown glass with a contemporary twist. The Artist made it look so easy.

With the opportunity to purchase award winning wines and modern free blown glass accessories, members commented that they had a most enjoyable day.
